They say, “Shepherd dogs without Schutzhund training are not real Shepherd dogs”, almost all German Shepherds generally receive Schutzhund training. In the “protection” phase, dogs appear to be attacking people, but actually, they are just playing by biting sleeves as decoys. If dogs truly intend to attack people, they would not bite the sleeve, but bite the leg just because it is easier. The dogs are trained to learn calmness and compliance and not to bite without a judgment, even when they are most excited about carrying off a sleeve (decoy). In addition to “protection” phase, the “obedience” phase, in which dogs learn to strictly comply with owners, and the “tracking” phase, dogs learn to patiently search articles by following a long track. In all three phases, dogs learn to keep calmness and patience, and also learn to control their drives with their own will. This results in very well-behaved dogs, and we feel very proud to welcome socialized Shepherd dogs with the Schutzhund training as our family members. If we compare a trained Shepherd and a human he would be like a special friend to us. We spend up to three years to train dogs’, just as if we are giving mandatory education to our children.
